If a department wishes to change its guidelines for tenure and/or promotion, then a written recommendation must come from the department chair to the Dean. For any change that affects tenure and/or promotion to associate professor, that recommendation should include a vote from faculty at the rank of associate professor and higher. For any change that affects promotion to full professor, the recommendation should include a vote from faculty at the rank of full professor.
