Tasks

  • Submit faculty position requests to Dean’s Office (early/mid-July)
  • Submit PAs to Dean’s Office (for employees on 9-month contracts or those beginning their positions) (mid-July)

August

Award Nominations

  • UA Rickey Yanaura Crimson Spirit Award (all year)
  • UA Virgil Parks McKinley Sr. Employee Award (all year)

Tasks

  • Submit professor emeritus recommendations (beginning of August)
  • Submit draft resolutions for Board of Trustees (beginning of August)
  • Enter course schedule for the upcoming spring semester into Banner (mid-August)

Meetings and Due Dates

  • Dean’s Retreat (early August)
  • New faculty orientation—sponsored by HR/Benefits
  • New full-time/part-time instructor orientation
  • Orientation for new Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA)

September

Award Nominations

  • UA Rickey Yanaura Crimson Spirit Award (all year)
  • UA Virgil Parks McKinley Sr. Employee Award (all year)

Tasks

  • Submit nominations from the department for College’s T&P committee
  • Submit National Endowment for the Arts (NEH) applications to the Dean’s Office
  • Attend to accounts that will zero out or roll back to the College on the last day of this month (fiscal year is ending)

Meetings and Due Dates

  • Arts and Sciences Chair’s Retreat; chairs are notified of searches that have been authorized by the Dean’s Office
  • T&P workshops (sponsored by Arts and Sciences)
  • First-Year Arts and Sciences faculty monthly seminars begin

October

Award Nominations

  • College Outstanding Graduate Thesis and Dissertation Award
  • UA Burnum Award nominations due (mid-October)
  • UA Rickey Yanaura Crimson Spirit Award (all year)
  • UA Virgil Parks McKinley Sr. Employee Award (all year)

Tasks

  • Submit retention/T&P dossiers to chair (beginning of October; N.B.: first-year tenure-track faculty are due in early January or some deadline determined by the chair)
  • Submit retention/T&P dossiers to department committee (mid-October)
  • Submit sabbatical leave applications to the Dean’s Office (end of October)

Meetings and Due Dates

  • Fiscal year begins (October 1)
  • Mid-term grades due (for students in all 100- and 200-level courses)
  • Academic advising for undergraduates (for Spring registration) begins (mid-October)
  • Learner-Centered Initiative workshops begin (four or five weekly sessions; open to early career faculty and full-time instructors)

November

  • Submit Honors Week materials to Student Services Center

  • FARs due to chair (reporting on activities from previous Apr 1-Mar 31)
  • Arts and Sciences reception for newly tenured and/or promoted faculty
  • Provost’s decision in T&P cases communicated to chairs and applicants
  • Faculty intending to apply for T&P in upcoming academic year must notify their chair in writing by end of April

May
